This study critically examines how artificial intelligence (AI) technologies reproduce gendered power structures and proposes the need for alternative AI ethics grounded on Donna Haraway’s concepts of accountability and response-ability. Emphasizing the embeddedness of AI within social relations and power, this study applies a case-based discourse analysis of recruitment algorithms, speech-based conversational AI, and image and search algorithms, drawing on diverse reports, media, and academic literature. The analysis focused on five dimensions: technological overview, gendering modes, accountability, response-ability, and ethical evaluation. The findings indicate that AI not only mirrors but also automates and amplifies gender inequalities, functioning as a structural mechanism of reinforcement. Consequently, this study suggests policy measures such as institutionalizing digital and gender impact assessments, ensuring participatory design, and strengthening educational and capacity-building programs. These discussions highlight the need to shift AI development from an efficiency-centered paradigm to one oriented toward justice and responsibility, contributing to an ethical framework that links gender justice with digital justice. |
