Abstract This paper discusses the evolution of the concept of ‘affective labour’ in order to apply it to the contemporary age of algorithms. The paper studies the shift in the nature of communication in the capitalist system of production enabled by the algorithms, and how this has led to an expansion of affective production. Finally, the paper also evaluates the new system of information management and its implications for political systems.
