This research focused on developing and validating a conversation practice model utilizing ChatGPT to enhance the dialogue construction abilities of Korean language learners. The developed model was designed to empower learners to autonomously construct and engage in realistic conversational scenarios. The study employed educational experiments targeting intermediate and advanced level learners, which included pre- and post-assessments, as well as interviews. The findings revealed improvements in learners’ dialogue construction capabilities, with a noticeable diversification in their usage of vocabulary and expressions. Notably, the organization of discourse was significantly enhanced, a long with the ability to effectively structure the functional stages of a dialogue. This study explores the potential of ChatGPT in Korean language education, offering a new direction for the field of Korean language conversation training.
