Abstract

When applying the confrontation problem of the ‘Socrates-human type’ free from the problem of akrasia or weakness of will and the ‘common sense-human type’ which cannot be free from the problem of akrasia, to artificial intelligence, it would be to answer the following question: 1) Can artificial intelligence be conscious and free beings? 2) Can artificial intelligence act against what it knows? 3) Does artificial intelligence belong to Socrates-human type, common sense-human type, or a third type of existence? In this regard, this paper will argue that artificial intelligence is a “third type of existence” that is free from the problem of akrasia, but has the risk of being extremely vigilant because it has biased knowledge and can lie.
