<Abstract>
The purpose of this study is to explore the research methodology for analyzing classical novels using digital analyzer method. To this end, this study examined the effectiveness of digital analysis of classical novels by analyzing and interpreting the patterns of emotions and the patterns of emotions shown in The Cloud Dream of the Nine.
First, The Cloud Dream of the Nine was regarded as the climax of the 13th stage, with the main emotions of joy, sadness and trust, and developing narratives centered on the main characters. The narrator is basically neutral, but in some cases and character evaluations, the emotions are expressed strongly, and the male and female characters express their emotions largely according to events such as meeting and breaking up.
Next, in The Cloud Dream of the Nine, sadness is more lasting than joy and the emotion that leads the work. These feelings of sadness are closely related to the narrative structure of the work, and it can be seen that the points where sorrow feelings protrude form an inflection point of the narrative.
This analysis result is the point where digital machine analysis and researcher's intuitive analysis or reader's sentimental sentiment are connected. It also proves the effectiveness of digital analysis of classical novels.
