“Journal of Artificial Intelligence Humanities” Review Guidelines

Enacted on February 1, 2018

Chapter 1 Subject of review

Article 1 (Subject of review) All articles published in this journal shall undergo the review procedures of these guidelines.

Article 2 (Submission and deadline of articles) Articles can be submitted at all times, and the deadline for submission in each issue of the journal shall be March 10 (published on April 30) and September 10 (published on October 31). Other cases shall follow the decision of the Editorial Board.

Chapter 2 Review procedures

Article 3 (Submission) The editor-in-chief shall prepare the “Acceptance Confirmation” upon the arrival of the submission and send it to the author. However, articles that do not follow the submission rules or guidelines shall be returned without acceptance.

Article 4 (Selection of reviewers) The editor-in-chief shall categorize submitted articles by major and convene the Editorial Board to select reviewers. Three reviewers shall be selected among those who specialized in the fields of the relevant articles.

Article 5 (Request for review) The editor-in-chief shall send the articles, request for review, and review form to the relevant reviewers. The reviewers shall not be informed of the names and affiliations of the authors.

Article 6 (Review criteria)

  1. Originality of research: The content of the article shall be original and not published in domestic and international journals.
  2. Appropriateness of content: The content shall be of creative research, criticism, and application of theory and education of artificial intelligence and humanities.
  3. Appropriateness of data: Research data shall have high reliability and not be plagiarized or cited without notice. It shall also meet the required format of the journal.
  4. Logic of development: The structure and development of content should be logical and clear.
  5. Academic contribution: The content and value of the article should contribute to leading and developing the theory and education of artificial intelligence and humanities.

Article 7 (Review)

  1. Each reviewer shall review the article according to four levels of “publish, publish with revisions, review upon revisions, reject” based on the “Review Form Writing Guidelines” in the request for review, and specifically write down the grounds for the review in the comments section. If revisions are necessary, the reviewer shall specifically indicate the parts and direction for revision.
  2. Each reviewer shall determine whether the article is to be “publish[ed] (10–9 points),” “publish[ed] with revisions (8–7 points),” “review[ed] upon revisions (6 points),” and “reject[ed] (5–0 points)” based on the total scores of reviews, and inform the editor-in-chief of the result.
  3. The average of the total scores of the three reviewers is calculated, using four levels, to determine whether the article is to be “publish[ed],” “publish[ed] with revisions,” “review[ed] upon revisions,” or “reject[ed].”
  4. For articles for which it is determined that they are to be “publish[ed] with revisions,” the authors are notified of the fact, and the articles may be published only if revisions are faithfully made or the reasons are clarified.
  5. Articles for which it is determined that they are to be “review[ed] upon revisions” undergo review once more without payment of the review fee by the author. Articles for which it is determined that they are to be “review[ed] upon revisions” or “reject[ed],” even after the secondary review, shall not be published.
  6. Articles for which it is determined that they are to be “reject[ed]” are returned to the authors with notification of reasons by the Editorial Board.

Article 8 (Editorial Board meetings) The editor-in-chief shall convene the Editorial Board to notify the members of the review results and determine whether to publish the articles through the deliberation of the Editorial Board.

Article 9 (Notification of results) The editor-in-chief notifies the authors of the meeting results, whether “publish,” “publish with revisions,” “review upon revisions,” or “reject.”

Article 10 (Publication) The authors of the articles for which it is decided that they are to be published after review and revisions shall sign the copyright transfer agreement with the Institute to publish the articles. The Humanities Research Institute shall have all rights regarding the copyrights to the articles published in the Journal of Artificial Intelligence Humanities. If the authors wish to rewrite the articles in part or in whole, they shall obtain the consent of the Institute and sign an agreement for details.

Article 11 Articles that are found to have been published in other journals or plagiarized shall be cancelled by the decision of the Research Ethics Committee even after the decision is made to publish or they are already published.

Supplementary provisions

(Effective date) These regulations shall be effective from Vol. 1 of the “Journal of Artificial Intelligence Humanities” (published on April 30, 2018).
